Per-layer arpeggiators
Create advanced rhythmic performances. Each layer can run its own arpeggiator — different rates, rhythms and patterns playing against each other.
Music Box Suite
Realistic music boxes and sound design
Two meticulously multi-sampled music boxes delivering the nostalgic charm of real mechanical instruments, complete with winding mechanisms and gentle whirring. Layer, morph and process these alongside complementary sounds—from plucked guitars to glockenspiels—to create anything from photorealistic period pieces to hybrid-synth keys and ambient textures.

25 instruments for layering and experimentation
Beyond the core Victorian and Tiny music boxes, you get 10 extra instruments including raw versions with more natural imperfections, non-round-robin variants for consistent tones, and 3 variations each of the wind-up and whirring mechanism sounds. There are also 4 mixer instruments—guitar pluck, glockenspiel, synth strings, and a pure singing sine—designed specifically for layering. The 9 processed instruments include stretched, blurred and shimmered versions of the music boxes, created using granular techniques and effects to form ambient tones and textural layers.
37 presets across 4 categories
The presets demonstrate the range: 5 Realistic presets for authentic music box emulation, 9 Atmospheres that blend processed samples into pads and ambient textures, and 14 Keys that combine the boxes with the mixer instruments for hybrid tones. Each preset is tagged and set up with Floe's macro controls, letting you shape and layer sounds without diving into the details.
Newly optimised for Floe
Music Box Suite has been redesigned to work seamlessly inside Floe. It now offers 25 enchanting sound sources and 37 newly crafted presets, each carefully curated to eliminate duplicates and make full use of Floe's macros, tagging, and categorization. The result is a more focused, versatile, and inspiring toolset.
The Victorian music box is part of an antique photo album, one of the two multi-sampled music boxes in Music Box Suite.
Music Box Suite plays in Floe, our free plugin for Windows, macOS and Linux. It's where your library lives, on its own or alongside any others of ours: a preset browser, three layers for blending instruments into a single sound, and filters, envelopes and a rack of effects to shape them with.
Music Box Suite is part of the Floe Series, designed from the ground up for Floe. Macros and preset descriptions are tuned throughout its factory bank. The presets predate v2's arpeggiators and granular synthesis, but the instruments are ready for both whenever you are.
Floe is free and open source: install it, add your library, and start playing.
