Per-layer arpeggiators
Create advanced rhythmic performances. Each layer can run its own arpeggiator — different rates, rhythms and patterns playing against each other.
Music Box Suite Free
Multi-sampled music box
Warm antique chimes from a multi-sampled Victorian music box: this free instrument delivers nostalgic mechanical tones perfect for cinematic scoring and electronic textures. Simpler than the full version—one music box, 13 presets—but still capable of everything from delicate realistic melodies to morphed ambient layers through Floe's transformation tools.
A Victorian music box with warm antique character
Multi-sampled for realistic performance in your cinematic and electronic productions.
13 ready-to-play presets
From natural music box tones to transformed textures and ambient sound design.
Powered by Floe
Our free plugin for expressive performance — simple yet highly customisable with layers, FX, granular and more (CLAP/VST3/AU).
Get more options with the full version of Music Box Suite
This free version of Music Box Suite is not as complete as the full version. The full version offers a second multi-sampled music box, a whole collection of complementary sounds for layering, and 28 more presets. As well as this, the full version has ‘raw’ versions of the music box recordings which include the genuine clicks and whirs of the sound. This can be tastefully applied to create more realistic timbres.
This extra content results in a much more capable tool for creating the ideal music box tone for your track, and also for exploring unique sound design textures and tones based on the music box sound.
This product is based on the samples from our old Kontakt library, Victorian Music Box. Each sample has been re-edited and cleaned up. The engine for this new version also offers a whole new level of control over the sound that was not possible previously.

Music Box Suite Free plays in Floe, our free plugin for Windows, macOS and Linux. It's where your library lives, on its own or alongside any others of ours: a preset browser, three layers for blending instruments into a single sound, and filters, envelopes and a rack of effects to shape them with.
Music Box Suite Free is part of the Floe Series, designed from the ground up for Floe. Macros and preset descriptions are tuned throughout its factory bank. The presets predate v2's arpeggiators and granular synthesis, but the instruments are ready for both whenever you are.
Floe is free and open source: install it, add your library, and start playing.
New in v2
Granular synthesis
Stretch, freeze and reshape any instrument into evolving clouds and textures — even multisampled instruments.
Pro effects rack
Eleven high-quality, reorderable effects — including pro-standard reverb and delay, and convolution reverb with creative IRs.
Built for the studio
Four macro knobs for expressive performance of multiple parameters. MIDI CC, sustain pedal, undo/redo, A/B comparison for preset edits, visual EQs and a random variation generator.
Free and open source
Floe is a companion project to FrozenPlain — totally free and open source for longevity and ethical service to the music-making community.
Layer across libraries
Blend instruments from any library in a single patch. Floe's three-layer architecture, each with its own controls, allows for creating hybrid textures.
