Create realistic music box melodies and explore organic sound design with this free VST/AU. It consists of a multi-sampled victorian music box housed in our sample-based synthesiser, Mirage. This music box has a charming, mysterious sound to it – ideal for both cinematic music and adding an organic character to electronic music. Mirage offers a powerful yet easy-to-use set of features for manipulating the sound. Music Box Suite Free comes with 12 presets ranging from realistic music box sounds to keys and pads.
Free multi-sampled music box VST/AU
Music Box Suite Free is primarily a VST/AU for creating realistic music box melodies. However, the features of Mirage (the engine that powers it) takes this instrument further than that. Using Mirage’s simple interface, the victorian music box can be layered, reversed, looped, tuned, distorted and much more. This power is demonstrated with the 12 included presets; you will find pads, textures and even keyboard-type sounds.

This free version of Music Box Suite is not as complete as the full version. The full version offers a second multi-sampled music box, a whole collection of complementary sounds for layering, and 40 more presets. As well as this, the full version has ‘raw’ versions of the music box recordings which include the genuine clicks and whirs of the sound. This can be tastefully applied in order to create more realistic timbres.
This extra set of content results in a much more capable tool for creating the ideal music box tone for your track, and also for exploring unique sound design textures and tones based on the music box sound.
This product is based on the samples from our old Kontakt library, Victorian Music Box. Each sample has been re-edited and cleaned up. The engine for this new version also offers a whole new level of control over the sound that was not possible previously.

Music Box Suite Free runs inside Mirage, our custom sample-based-synthesis plugin. Mirage is free: no log-in, no hassle, no license keys. It’s a 64-bit VST2 and AU plugin for Windows and macOS.
Music Box Suite Free will appear inside Mirage, along with any other Mirage libraries that you have installed. Mirage allows you to easily find, transform and play FrozenPlain’s sample libraries:
