Resonating metal sheets, koto strings, and suspended steel frames: Scenic Vibrations delivers beautifully organic yet unfamiliar tonal textures perfect for cinematic atmosphere—from dramatic tension to emotional ambience to horror dread. Created by composer Si Begg (Sky TV, Netflix), this instrument offers over 100 professionally crafted presets and powerful 3-layer processing for immediate customisable sound design.
The 30 instruments are created from recordings of metal objects resonating with a surface transducer – a device that turns any resonant surface into a speaker. Metal sheets, koto strings, bass guitar strings and suspended steel frames were used. Each sample is roughly 20 seconds long, tuned and looped seamlessly. Load any of the 30 instruments across Floe's three-layer core, controlling volume envelope, EQ, LFO, pitch and more. Blend multiple sounds together to create new timbres, or use the 'randomise all instruments' button to quickly trial new combinations.
Composer Si Begg (Sky TV, Netflix's Lovesick) created the recordings, sample editing and many of the presets. His two decades of experience scoring for film, TV and trailers bring technical skill and an ear for usable sound design to Scenic Vibrations – an instrument he uses in his own professional work.
Browse through 107 factory presets designed by Si Begg and Sam Windell, including suspenseful keys, dark ambiences, fluttering pads and droning bass-pads. Each preset can be further customised with Floe's interface.
