32 Ambient Oscillators

Where a typical subtractive synthesizer offers sawtooth, sine, or square oscillators, Lost Reveries provides sample-based ambient tones. Shape these tones using ADSR envelopes, filters, and EQ, then layer them together. Add modulation with LFOs, and color the sound using effects including reverb, distortion, chorus, and phaser.

Hilyard created the samples using various tone-generation processes—both real recordings and synthesized elements. The goal: provide core building blocks for designing your own multi-layered ambient tones.

Lost Reveries includes 81 presets by Hilyard, easily modified to suit your needs. They're organized into 4 categories: Drones, Keys, Rhythmic Movements, and Textures. Navigate with next/previous buttons, arrow keys, search, or load a random preset.

The ambient-tone oscillators are organized into 4 sections: low, mid, air, and vocal. These categories guide how you might use each tone, making it easier to build multi-layered tracks. The vocal category contains tones that resonate like human vowel sounds.

Now optimised for Floe

Lost Reveries has been updated as a Floe native format library with comprehensive tagging across all 81 presets and 32 instruments, improved volume levels for better consistency, and enhanced audio quality with fixed minor pops. The preset categories have been refined for improved usability: Pads is now Drones (49 presets) to better reflect the sustained nature of these sounds, and Plucked is now Keys (10 presets) for clearer categorization alongside Rhythmic Movements (10 presets) and Textures (12 presets). The update is fully backwards compatible—existing presets and DAW projects will continue to work seamlessly.
